Educational trips abroad double despite the rise of AI

In Argentina, the number of students under the age of 12 taking educational trips abroad has doubled—according to data from international operators—a trend occurring amidst the integration of artificial intelligence tools.

Participation by Argentine students under 12 in educational trips abroad has nearly doubled in recent months, according to data from the international language course provider Education First (EF). This shift coincides with the growing presence of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in the daily learning routines of children and adolescents.

Demand is concentrated in classic academic destinations such as Oxford, Cambridge, New York, San Diego, and Bournemouth. These programs combine language learning, cultural immersion, and in-person educational experiences—a format families value as a complement to digital education.

Experts highlight that, in a context where AI tools—such as assistants and content generators—have become part of the school routine, real-world experiences and exposure to different cultural environments strengthen human skills that technology alone cannot replace, such as critical thinking, autonomy, and intercultural communication.

EF notes that while AI can enhance learning, linguistic immersion and real-world experience are fundamental to achieving deep language proficiency; this is particularly evident when students interact in environments where the target language is part of everyday life.
