Upon returning from vacation, one often longs for the places visited. Here are some ideas for recreating the atmosphere of those missed destinations at home.
After enjoying the relaxation of a holiday, many people want to relive those happy days by decorating their homes with details that evoke the places where they found happiness.
According to a study by Booking.com involving over 19,000 travelers worldwide, Mediterranean and Scandinavian styles top the list of vacation-inspired interior design trends.
Mediterranean (57%) – This timeless style evokes the vastness of the sea and a sense of relaxation, characterized by fresh colors and minimalist decor. Interior designer Lucy Gough suggests incorporating mosaic tiles, natural fabrics and textures like linen, sturdy wooden furniture, and terracotta flooring.
Scandinavian (53%) – Simplicity, minimalism, practicality, and beauty. It is an understated style that prioritizes impeccable craftsmanship, featuring light woods, clean lines, and curved forms in both architecture and furniture. Embraced globally, this trend keeps accessories to a minimum and places great importance on natural light.
Rustic (42%) – This rural style is defined by a maximalist aesthetic, the use of sturdy wood, and durable flooring made from natural materials like stone. It evokes warmth and comfort; in a country home, nothing is overly delicate, and everything has a weathered, aged appearance, creating a romantic and nostalgic atmosphere.
